At age three, the darling little girl insisted she be called
Shelly. At age seven, she wanted to be called Ann. By age 13,
she insisted people address her as Shirley if they wouldn't do her
the favor of calling her Ann. The day after she turned 18, she
hopped a Greyhound bus and moved 1500 miles away from her mother,
then once settled she legally changed her name to Vyolet Ann.
Her mother still calls her Shilerean, much to the darling child's chagrin.
I don't recall where this was. But I'd run like hell too.
